Breadcrumbs: Another side of Seil (Fr. Paul)
5/10/2010 11:42:00 AM by Jim White

Humor and spirituality aren’t normally used in the same sentence but that’s exactly what Daybreak TV Productions had in mind with the idea for a "blooper reel". The cooking show "Our Daily Bread", with host Fr. Paul D. Seil, is more light-hearted as far as Catholic programming goes. Like any production, there are mistakes, unforeseen events and humorous moments and these "breadcrumbs" take the fun to a whole new level. Fr. Paul D. Seil reflected on the concept.

"It seems like "bloopers" have become popular entertainment. Of course, when you're the one making the bloopers, maybe they aren't quite so funny. The Our Daily Bread "blooper reel" made me laugh."
The award-winning "Our Daily Bread" is in its thirteenth season. The show has always displayed a solid balance of serious and funny; he is often informative and even more often, full of beans. Fr. Paul has been host for seven years and has had his share of memorable moments on camera.
"I had forgotten some of the things I said! And then there were some unforgettable moments like the time my little nephew refused to come on camera -- only his hand appeared! Or the time the glass ice tea pitcher shattered."
This Friday Daybreak will make the first of three "breadcrumbs" available on YouTube and on their facebook page:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Daybreak-TV-Productions/354883084590?ref=ts. Each video will be around three minutes.
With "breadcrumbs", Daybreak hopes to offer a different view of TV production and to emphasize our common humanity. As Fr. Paul said, "I guess it's true, sometimes we have to laugh at ourselves and recognize that life is not serious all the time. Sometimes the mistakes remind us how great life really can be."
