The award-winning documentary will air Saturday, December 19, from 12:00-1:30 p.m. on Channel 7. Funded by the generous support of the Vincent and Harriet Palisano Foundation, It features the story of Monsignor Nelson Baker, who is currently under review for canonization by the Vatican.
Legacy of Victory
has been recognized by the industry for its excellence in video production with awards including: A Silver Telly finalist and a NYS Emmy nomination. Also a Videographer award and a Crystal Communicator award.
Premiere broadcast at Our Lady of Victory on March 19, 2003 at 8 p.m. was interrupted by the announcement from President George W. Bush declaring war against Iraq. Since then, the 90 minute documentary has broadcast every year, thanks to the partnership of Daybreak with WKBW-TV Channel 7.
Daybreak has been expanding its audience through distribution and their website www.daybreaktv.org. Legacy of Victory has travelled nationally and internationally to Toronto, Canada on ‘Salt and Light’; Poland on ReligiaTV; in Boston, MA on CTV; and in Brooklyn, NY on WNET. Our Lady of Victory Basilica attracts visitors from all over the world and the documentary produced by Daybreak is also reaching across the globe, spreading the good news of this great man’s life and legacy.
Bishop Edward U. Kmiec blessed the new museum at OLV on the feast day of Our Lady of Victory October 7, 2009, celebrating the opening of the new museum and renovation of the lower level of the basilica. Msgr. Baker’s cause for sainthood is still under review by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in Rome. Bishop Kmiec is hopeful that there will be progress on Msgr. Baker’s cause sometime next year.
